Case Update: Tuesday, September 04, 2018,

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department have identified the victim as Juordan Malik Hill, B/M, DOB: 02/18/1998.  His family has been notified of his death.

This is an ongoing, active investigation.  As further information develops it will be released by CMPD Public Affairs.

Monday, September 03, 2018,

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 2400 block of Pruitt Street in the Freedom Division.  The call for service came in at 8:13 p.m. on Monday, September 03, 2018. 

Freedom Division patrol officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call for service.  Upon arrival, officers located a male with an apparent gunshot wound inside of an apartment.  MEDIC responded and pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.  The victim's name will be released once his family has been notified about this incident.

The initial investigation has revealed that the victim, along with several witnesses, was standing outside of an apartment in a parking lot located in the 2400 block of Pruitt Street when an unknown suspect(s) began shooting.  The victim was struck by a bullet and ran inside the apartment.

Crime Scene Search responded to the call for service to process the scene and collect physical evidence.   Homicide Detectives are currently canvassing the area to determine whether there are any additional witnesses to this incident.  Representatives of the Mecklenburg County District Attorney's Homicide Prosecution Team, Victim Services and Operations Command responded to the scene.
