On Monday, September 12, City Engineering & Property Management and Neighborhood & Business Services will host a front porch event to celebrate Charlotte National Electric Drive week. The event will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Charlotte Mecklenburg Government Center plaza, located at 600 East 4th Street in uptown Charlotte.

The event will feature electric vehicle displays, presentations and organization tables to promote public awareness of electric vehicles. Charlotte's event is one of more than 100 across the country where electric vehicle owners and their neighbors will hold electric car parades, "tailpipe-free" tailgate parties, recognitions of leaders promoting electric vehicles, launches of new electric vehicle charging stations and other public events.

Participants include the Charlotte Department of Transportation, the Cross Charlotte Trail, Sustain Charlotte, CATS, Charlotte B-Cycle, Charlotte Cycles (electric bicycles), Envision Charlotte, Bright Fields Transportation Solutions, electric vehicle dealerships and the Centralina Council of Governments.

The event is free and open to the public.
