City Council's action-packed day includes three committee meetings, business meeting

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (March 26, 2018) – After a busy day with Transportation and Planning, Economic Development and Environment Committee meetings, the Charlotte City Council took several actions at Monday's business meeting.

Economic Development Committee Receives Eastland Mall Proposals
Four development teams made pitches for new development projects on the 80-acre former site of Eastland Mall.

The Economic Development Committee is expected to announce its recommendation on April 26, 2018.

South End Vision Plan Update

In partnership with Center City Partners and the South End community, the South End Vision Plan is the first project demonstrating how place types and UDO process relate to each other, with the measured goal of implementing a broader community vision.

The planning team provided a broad look at opportunities for cohesive development in South End and four station areas, outlining a framework for the next 30 years of growth.

City of Charlotte Microgrant Program

The Microgrant program supports mediation and conflict resolution, crime fighting and prevention, and opportunities for youth and parents. Microgrant encourages community partner engagement in support of the Community Empowerment Initiative – an initiative launched in Hidden Valley and Lakewood neighborhoods earlier this year.
