Bank Robbery Suspect Arrested

UPDATE:

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Armed Robbery Unit and the FBI Safe Streets Task Force have charged Lewis Edward Fite, DOB: 01/08/1974, for his involvement in the February 10, 2016, robbery of the First Citizens Bank at 15010 John J. Delaney Drive and the January 9, 2016, robbery of the BB&T Bank at 8011 Mallard Creek Road. 

 

During these investigations, detectives received information that identified Fite as a possible suspect in these bank robberies.  On Friday, February 12, 2016, Armed Robbery Unit detectives assisted by University City Division officers and Gang Unit detectives conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle.  The passenger, identified as Lewis Fite, was arrested for felony larceny warrants from the state of Tennessee.  Fite was transported to police headquarters where he was interviewed by Armed Robbery Unit and the FBI Safe Streets Task Force detectives.

 

Upon completion of the interview, Fite was charged with two counts of Common Law Robbery, and transferred to the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office.

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Armed Robbery Unit and the FBI Safe Streets Task Force are requesting the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect involved in the robbery of the First Citizens Bank, located at 15010 John J. Delaney Drive in the South Division. 

 

On Wednesday, February 10, 2016, at 1:50 p.m., the suspect entered the First Citizens Bank, 15010 John J. Delaney Drive.  The suspect approached a bank employee and demanded money.  Once the suspect received money he then fled the scene.  The suspect is described as a light skinned black male, 30-40 years of age, medium build, full beard and was last seen wearing a black leather jacket and a green baseball hat.  Please see the photographs below of the suspect.
