Careers for Women & Minorities Town Hall

Mayor Pro Tem Vi Lyles is holding a town hall to discuss opportunities for women and minorities to pursue engaging, rewarding careers. Members of recruitment teams from CMPD to CFD will also be present.

Citizenship Workshop

Join the Latin American Coalition as they host a citizenship workshop designed to offer prospective naturalization applicants pre-screening as to eligibility, in-depth information about the naturalization process, assistance in completing and documenting the Application for Naturalization (N-400 form), legal review of applications by an attorney or a Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA) Accredited Representative, referral for more complex cases, and information regarding local Civics, History and English classes.

March Against Domestic Violence

The Domestic Violence Advocacy Council of Charlotte is holding its quarterly awareness event. The march will start and end at the Latin American Coalition, and free and open to the public. Hear from survivors and professionals, as well as receive support from local advocates. There will also be Spanish interpreters on site.

Swiss Society Family Picnic

As in previous years, the club will provide bratwurst, bread, and alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, but we are dependent on our members to contribute food. Near the shelter is a volleyball court, a playground and several venues. It would also be nice if some of you could provide volley balls, check boards, etc. We hope that many young families will participate.

Military Training in Afghanistan

Major General James Mallory has unique perspectives from his service in Afghanistan about the alignment of the security and rule of law mission in support of the Afghan National Army and the underlying challenges to building a sustainable civic society consistent with Afghan cultural norms. The ongoing objectives of Rotary to end polio, provide sanitation and clean water, literacy, women's health, economic development and peace-making will be discussed.

Tackling Economic Mobility - Town Hall

Council member Ajmera invites District 5 residents and the public to join her as City and County staff update residents on ways to improve Charlotte’s economic mobility rating. Learn more about upcoming youth programs and other economic development initiatives. Speakers at the town hall include City Manager Marcus Jones and County Manager Dena Diorio.

East Voyager Academy Information Session

This session is open to parents and pre-K to 4th grade students who are interested in attending the Chinese language immersion charter school in the fall of 2018. They will be able to learn more about East Voyager's unique immersion program.
