Volunteers in Police Service (VIPS)

The goal of Volunteers in Police Service (VIPS) is to provide support for resource-constrained law enforcement agencies by tapping civilian volunteers to assist with administrative and non-enforcement responsibilities, keeping officers free for frontline duty. 

Volunteer responsibilities with VIPS include:

  • Patrolling City parks and School zones 

  • Coordinating graffiti removal programs 

  • Directing traffic 

  • Relocating radar trailers 

  • Assisting in abandoned vehicle removal 

  • Conducting vacation checks at residences
