Urban Land Institute National Advisory Panel   

The Urban Land Institute (ULI) is a nonprofit education and research organization that fosters and encourages high standards of land use planning and development. Established in 1936, ULI is recognized as one of North America's most respected and widely quoted sources of objective information on urban planning, growth, and development. The members of this panel have been selected from the ULI membership for their expertise relevant to the problems and opportunities facing this project. All panel members donate their time, effort, and expertise to the Advisory Services program as a personal contribution to further the Institute's work and objectives.

Purpose of the National Advisory Panel
The City of Charlotte, Mecklenburg County, and key community partners have engaged the Urban Land Institute (ULI) to provide an Advisory Services Panel beginning March 13, 2016. This panel of experts, chosen and facilitated by ULI focused on strategies to best envision the future of SouthPark as an evolving mixed use activity center, established goals and expectations for future public and private investment, and identified tools and next steps for implementation.

Goals of Week-long Event

This concentrated panel of experts provided results and worked with the City, business and community stakeholders, neighborhood leadership and other organizations to address the opportunities and challenges in the area.

The Panelists schedule was as follows:

  • Sunday, March 13: Sponsor Dinner

  • Monday, March 14: Staff Briefing, Tour of Area, and Stakeholder Reception

  • Tuesday, March 15: Interviews with key Stakeholders

  • Friday, March 18: Public Presentation​
