Station Area Planning Process
In May 2016, the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) and the City of Charlotte selected a consultant team to lead the station area planning process.
Tasks to be completed within the station area plan process include a transportation analysis; public outreach to stakeholders, residents and businesses; development of a conceptual design of the station and the station area, and development of a preliminary financial plan. It is anticipated that the station area planning process will be completed by fall 2016.
Phase 1 – Track, Structures & Signals (TS&S)/ Design and engineering
In spring 2016, consultants were also selected for civil and structural design of the new bridges and tracks and to provide architectural design and services.
