BLE University City Boulevard Station
Jackie Chang's projects have blended images and words to inspire audiences to reflect on their humanity. For the University City Boulevard Station, Chang chose to use the word ‘Where’ in the windscreens, and ‘Here’ in the platform paving. She chose to highlight the word ‘Where’ because of its abstract nature, belonging to the past and to the future. In a July 2012 interview with the Charlotte Observer, Chang stated that, "the city is looking into the future, but it's also taking the past with it." She developed her ideas for both the University City Boulevard Station and the JW Clay Station, which bookend the University City area, as a CATS Artist-in-Residence at the McColl Center for Visual Art during the summer of 2012.
