  • Widen sidewalks and provide mid-block crossings to improve pedestrian safety

  • Incorporate bike lines to provide alternative travel options

  • On-street parking

  • Façade improvements to existing buildings

  • Improved neighborhood accessibility

  • To make the area more pedestrian-friendly

  • To improve green connections

  • To drive business investments

  • To create an additional point of pride for the neighborhood

A through review and analysis of existing conditions compared to current and future land uses and transportation needs will be conducted.

A Land Acquisition & Street Connections/Sidewalk & Bikeway Improvements Community workshop was held on June 23, 2016 and input from this meeting is being considered in this process.

Cost: To be determined

The City's FY2017-2021 Community Investment Plan proposes that this project receives a total of $10.4 million from bonds. Voters approved $2.08 million in 2016 and will vote on further bond financing ($8.32 million) in 2018.

The Community Investment Plan approved by City Council in 2013 calls for voters to consider approval of funding for a number of infrastructure programs. Voters approved bond financing in 2014 and 2016 and will vote on further bond financing in 2018 and 2020. For this project, if voters approve funding, City staff engages the community to determine the details of what will ultimately be built. Once these details are known, the cost of the project is estimated and published. Learn more about the Community Investment Plan at http://charlottefuture.com
