 Project updates

This project will improve the intersection of Lakeview Road and Reames Road and provide a sidewalk on Lakeview Road from Reames Road to Trinity Road. Lakeview Road is expected to have higher traffic volumes and different travel patterns due to the new "direct connect" interchange with I-77 being constructed as a part of the North Carolina Department of Transportation I-77 express lanes project. This project will address this projected increase in traffic volume at the intersection.

  • To improve the function of the intersection
  • To improve safety for all modes of traffic
  • To improve pedestrian and bicycle access to Hornets' Nest Park
  • To enhance transit access and coordinate with the NCDOT I-77 express lanes project

Extensive community engagement and outreach took place in connection with the Sunset/Beatties Ford Road CNIP planning process. For details, visit the Sunset/Beatties Ford Road CNIP page.

For this specific project, public meetings will occur throughout the planning phase to introduce residents to the project and get their feedback. Public meeting dates are below:

  • November 1, 2016 at Lakeview Elementary School View summary
All upcoming public meetings for this project will be posted in the "project updates" section of this pages, as well as on the Citywide Projects Portal and on the Citywide Events Calendar

To be determined

The Community Investment Plan approved by City Council in 2013 calls for voters to consider approval of funding for a number of infrastructure programs. Voters approved bond financing in 2014 and 2016 and will vote on further bond financing in 2018 and 2020. For this project, if voters approve funding, City staff engages the community to determine the details of what will ultimately be built. Once these details are known, the cost of the project is estimated and published. Learn more about the Community Investment Plan at http://charlottefuture.com
