Holiday message from Mayor Jennifer Roberts to the Charlotte community:

From my family to yours, I want to wish everyone in Charlotte a happy holiday season. While we are a community that takes care of each other, this is the time of year when our giving spirit, and our thankfulness for all that we have, is more apparent than ever. We are a great community because of the care and compassion we see manifested in every corner of our city.

For me, the best gift is to be surrounded by family and friends during the holidays and I am grateful for all the blessings of this year. I am also grateful for the hard work and dedication of our first responders and city employees who work so hard year-round to keep our city safe, and who help make it a great place to live. I know many of you often have to sacrifice valuable time with your families during the holidays. Thank you for all you do.

This season, I hope we all may find joy in the gathering of our families and friends and in the embrace of the spirit of the holidays as we look forward to an even greater 2016! Have a blessed, joyous, safe, and peaceful holiday and a New Year full of promise and prosperity!
