Mayor Dan Clodfelter joined the Charlotte International Cabinet during the 18th annual Mayor’s International Community Awards (MICA) May 5 at The Booth Playhouse in the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center. The annual MICA event recognizes the many contributions of the international community in the Charlotte region, including the corporate philanthropy of three foreign-owned firms.

“It is wonderful to see corporations from all over the world come to Charlotte -- the global nature of the business market means that we must continue to strive to be competitive,” said Clodfelter.

“As the international community continues to grow we hope to see more contributions in our truly diverse and vibrant metropolis.”

Many of Charlotte’s policymakers including Mayor Pro tem Michael Barnes, Councilman Greg Phipps, Council Woman Vi Lyles, Councilman David Howard, and Councilwoman Claire Fallon were among those attending.
Top international influencers were also in attendance, representing several countries including the United Kingdom, Guatemala, Mexico, Hungary, Ireland, and the Czech Republic.

MICA also recognizes three individuals or organizations who have displayed strong leadership and contributed to the development of Charlotte's international community. The three categories for these awards are the Richard Vinroot International Achievement Award, the Patrick McCrory International Entrepreneur Award, and the Global Leader Award.
