Launched in June 2012, Charlotte Works is the expanded reincarnation of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Workforce Development system. As Partridge and Foxx discussed, the organization follows a unique “demand-driven” model in which it seeks to match job-seekers with employers based on company needs, and it has already worked successfully with companies like Siemens and Chiquita to help them find workers. In 2013, Partridge said he is looking forward to expanding the services Charlotte Works offers area youth through the launch of a web portal for employers interested in offering internships.
