Building Services manages and maintains 5.7 million square feet and more than 300 City-owned facilities, including nine local fire stations, 13 CMPD patrol division offices and several cultural facilities such as Discovery Place, Mint Museum, Blumenthal Performing Arts Center and the Harvey B. Gantt Center. Our experienced staff of HVAC technicians, plumbers, electricians, carpenters and project managers provide maintenance, construction, roof and parking lot program management and project management services.
Additionally, we manage the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Government Center and parking deck. This 400,000-square-foot facility headquarters the City of Charlotte and Mecklenburg County governments. Three boards conduct public meetings in the facility: the Charlotte City Council, the Mecklenburg County Commission and the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School Board.
We also provide construction administration and management of all City-owned and -financed building projects such as the NASCAR Hall of Fame. Consultants and contractors perform the design and construction of the buildings under the supervision of project managers, ensuring that projects and schedules are maintained. A team of engineers is currently working on new fire stations and police stations.
