Danny Pleasant, Interim Assistant City Manager
Danny Pleasant serves as an Assistant City Manager for the City of Charlotte. In this role, he oversees public safety, housing, neighborhoods, and community relations.
Danny has served the City of Charlotte for the past 15 years. He joined the City of Charlotte as a deputy transportation director and became the Director of Charlotte Department of Transportation in 2009. Before coming to Charlotte, he served for 14 years as transportation planning bureau chief for the City of Orlando. He also served as a planner in Atlanta and Chapel Hill, and Fayetteville.
Danny holds a Master of Urban Planning from Texas A&M University College of Architecture and a Bachelor of Science from NC State University’s College of Natural Resources.
Danny serves on the Executive Board of the National Association of City Transportation Officials. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners, the Urban Land Institute, and the Congress for the New Urbanism. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Transportation Engineers. He often serves on expert teams crafting solutions to transportation, urban design, and development issues at the national, regional, and local levels.
