Center Court inside the mall 

  • We bring a selection of dogs, puppies, cats and kittens to the mall for adoption. 

  • As long as the pets are spayed/or neutered prior to the event they can be adopted and go home the same day.

  • We do provide a cat carrier for a $5 donation and leashes for a $1 donation, however, adopters are welcome to bring their own.

  • Adoption prices may vary per pet.

  • Adoption promotions at the shelter are honored at the mall event.

*Date is subject to change/cancellation. We will not be at the mall the months of November or December BUT be sure to visit us at the shelter during this time to adopt!

Free Rabies Shots and Low-Cost Microchip Clinic

Rabies shots are free to all Mecklenburg County residents who have dogs, cats and/or ferrets over the age of 4 months. Visit the Rabies Clinic page to make sure that you have everything you need the day of the clinic which will help lower your wait time.

Char-Meck Pet licensing can be purchased the same day. Visit the Licensing page for the fees.

Micro​chips are $10 per pet. This fee includes the cost of the chip itself, registration in the Char-Meck database, AND the registration to the national database through Pet Link. Owners who would like to purchase a microchip are NOT limited to Mecklenburg County. Pets should be at least 8 weeks old when receiving a microchip. Visit the Microchip page​ for complete details.

Trails and Tails Community Dog Walk Meetup
Second Saturday of Each Month*
9:00am - 11:30am

Locations vary at different Mecklenburg County parks and greenways.

Have a K-9 companion? Want to meet other dog lovers in Mecklenburg County? Meet up with the Shelter Pet Enrichment Fund and Park and Rec at various park locations across Mecklenburg County the second Saturday of each month from 9:30am - 11:30am.

The Shelter Pet Enrichment Fund (SPEF) is a 501c3 CMPD Animal Care & Control partner, whose purpose is to create happy pets through enrichment and training programs. They hold these monthly dog walks in partnership with Mecklenburg Parks & Rec (sponsored by Subaru South Blvd/Concord).
